Utrecht University has two beautiful botanic gardens. The garden of the university museum is the former botanic garden.

The botanic garden in the campus De Uithof has among others rock garden plants and several green houses with exquisite tropical and subtropical plants.  It is a great place to go for a walk during for instance study breaks.

The second garden, the arboretum, is situated in the nearby village Doorn. It is famous for its rhododendrons, birchen and heather.
 
Admission is free for students of Utrecht University.

Opening hours botanic garden in De Uithof
The garden at the De Uithof is open daily from the beginning of March till the end of November.  In March, April, October and November the garden is open from 10.00 till 16.00. In summer it is open till 17.00.

Opening hours of the arboretum in Doorn:
Monday till Friday form 8.30 till 16.00.
Saturday, Sunday and holidays: from 10.00 till 16.00. From May till the end of September till 17.00.
